Engadine Residence

The house is located on an extremely steep hillside above the village of Engadine. The overall shape and materialization (the shell is solid Graubünden Quartzite) refers to the country, rural buildings, and is clearly distinguished from urban English houses by smooth plastered exterior walls and street coverings. A strong and straight wall constitutes a pillar against the avalanche slope. The five-story building opens to the valley like a fan, and the windows and loggias are deeply cut. In contrast to the rough facade, chestnut wood and finely polished serpentine stones connect the interlocking rooms.
